Scent is the strongest tie to memory

April 13, 2016

~SPONSORED~

Our memories are stamped by certain senses – a touch, a scent, a feeling that takes us back to a specific period of time. Over the past few weeks, my sister, @songofstyle, and I have been non-stop on the go. Although both our lifestyles can be hectic at times, we always make it a point to get outside to enjoy the amazing LA weather, and of course, each others company.

As sisters – and best friends – we are constantly introducing each other to new products and inspirations.

When Dolce&Gabbana Dolce Fragrances approached us about the newest scent blooming in the DG Dolce garden, we celebrated by throwing ourselves a springtime picnic, complete with the entire Dolce collection; Classic Dolce with its gentle, feminine mix of white flowers, the ever-so-subtle Dolce Floral Drops, and of course the newest bloom, Dolce Rosa Excelsa.

Dolce Rosa Excelsa seamlessly ties the collection together and has quickly become my new favorite. The fragrance captures the scent of rose petals in bloom making it the perfect option to kick off the Spring season!

What ever happened to D& G’s “Sicily”? It’s heavy, but beautiful, and I wear it frequently, especially in Winter, but haven’t see it advertised.

So true – scent is so evocative of emotion. I read recently that – whereas taste has 5 main categories (sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami) – the sense of smell has thousands that the brain creates “maps” for. Kind of like each scent being anchored to a particular memory in your life, which is why scent is so powerful!
